• I have a wordpress blog located at https://www.mysite.com/blog.

I bought the domain name “blog.com” and forwarded it, with url masking, to https://www.mysite.com/blog. I also changed the site url of my wordpress blog to https://www.blog.com. It works fine if I use the default links, but permalinks break the site and give me a 404 error. After lots of trial and error I’ve realized that the problem is created by the domain name forwarding (or perhaps it’s a result of of the wordpress address URL not matching the site address). In any case, permalinks work if I remove the domain name forwarding and use the https://www.mysite.com/blog format.

Can anybody help? Perhaps I need to modify my .htaccess file or move it, and if so, to what/where? Something else?

  • Why are you forwarding your domain name why not use it as domain name on your host.

I have another site running at “mysite.com”, and my hosting company will not allow me to add another domain name to my account unless it points to the root. Since I have another site running at the root, that’s not a viable option. If it comes to it I’ll have to go with another hosting company, but I’m hoping there’s an easier solution.
