Permission problem on 3.1.1 automatic update (Windows server)

  • I’m trying to do an automatic update to 3.1.1 and it’s failing with a permission error when it tries to copy the new core files onto the server.

    My site is hosted on CrystalTech on a shared Windows server. Can anyone tell me what the permissions should be set to on the WordPress folders?

    Check out the error message, it’s probably has info about what folder needs more permissions. Try to set Write permissions on that folder, if possible. If not possible, try to contact hosting support and ask them to do it. If they refuse, you need to update it manually.
