text formatting: textile, textile 2 etc. Do you guys use them?

For me since I am the only author/user it’s easier not to use them. But I guess everybody will have a different answer ??

I use Markdown, primarily because I dig the syntax.

No need for them…. like moshu, I’m pretty much the only author/user, and I’m perfectly happy hand-coding when I need something.

It is my understanding that if you are using these, just about anywhere you put a double line break, you’re going to get p’s all over the place. ??

Because I want to not code some short posts without special graphics or effects, but the majority of my posts require HTML, I use TextControl plugin so I can customize the formatting on a per post basis. Some I use wpautop and texturize, and most I say “no formatting and no character coding” and let “me” be in charge of the results with tags.

But isn’t it nice you have the options.

Never seen that plugin before – very cool ??

I use the Textile 2 plugin, because (1) it’s easier than writing straight html, (2) it gives me more control than a wysiwyg plugin, and (3) it makes it easy for me to use footnotes.

Not only is it easier than coding html … removed urls and footnotes rock — I’m thinking about a LaTeX plugin ??

The bottom line, of course, is that I bought into the idea that if I store “plain text” as much as possible, I can always mark it up to be compliant with new standards…
