• I am currently using XAMPP as the software to host my company intranet. I was wondering what everyone’s thoughts on what they use to run wordpress.

Is there something more secure or more preferred than XAMPP?

    Thanks

XAMMP is fine. Many people use a Linux box with apache. It’s all whatever you’re comfortable with, IMO.

XAMMP is better that other localhost software, because XAMPP have good default configuration and plugin and working good with most CMS like WP.

XAMMP can use at windows and linux

Lots of folks are using SharePoint these days to share intranet-type content.

Thanks for all the replies. The reason i asked this question is because we recently were audited and i was asked to update the current version of PHP. With that, i downloaded the latest version of XAMPP but had trouble with updating. Update seemed to install fine, but when i went to restart the Apache and MySQL services, i got “root directory” errors. Did searches for these errors but nothing help. Is there a paid version of anything that equals with XAMPP offers (ie mysql, apache, php)?
