Display images as widget depending on the current page?

Hi everybody,

I’m working on a wordpress site (3.1) for a small business and they are asking for a function which can display images in the right sidebar. When I say display images I mean – display images – and not really more than that.

They want to upload, say four images, and view them on a specific page, category or post. The images should be able to be displayed with and without text and with and without a link.

Example: If they go to the category “Blog” four images are to be presented in the right sidebar. And if they go to the page “about us” four other images have to be displayed.

I’m not myself familiar with a plugin which can do this or if it is possible at all but any advice or knowledge of such a function would be very much appreciated.
