• I installed WP-DB-Backup on our community NPO event site (https://www.carnivale.com.au) last year.

I set backups to save to the server before I was made aware of the server space issues (budget limit issues). Once we started getting those dreaded “no more space” messages I decided to just delete a whole bunch of orphaned files and plugins and WP-DB-Backup was one of them.

We discovered this week that the plugin left the backups file on the server and they are huge files! The trouble is that the plugin set the permissions to rw- r– r– and I can’t manually change the permissions to delete the folder – my FTP program isn’t allowed access and I can’t do it through the server dashboard file manager either. I reinstalled the plugin in the hope that I had missed something there but it provides no options for deletion of older backups on the server.

I really really really need to delete those files to free up some space. I have tried to register in Austin Matzko’s forum (the plugins coder) but for some reason the email password it keeps telling me is coming never arrives.

How do I get rid of these space-hog files?
