• Hi. I’m really worried about the change introduced in WP 3.1. Till WP 3.0, whenever a plugin is uploaded, it will ask Activate Plugin, Network Activate. But in WP 3.1, I have only Network Activate. In Site Admin, all plugins are not showing up when not network activated (Sometimes, I want certain plugins to be activated only on the main site and not to all). Could anybody pls shed some light on this area? I am terribly confused..

  • But in WP 3.1, I have only Network Activate.

Only when you install a plugin.

If you do not activate the plugin network-wide right then and there, you WILL see it in the Plugins menu on a single site.

Any plugin that is network activated will not be seen on the single site plugins list (main or otherwise).

(Sometimes, I want certain plugins to be activated only on the main site and not to all).

Then do not network activate it. Only activate it on the main site.

Thanks Andrea for your clear explanation. However I was worried about very few plugins when not network-activated, does not feature in site’s plugin page!
I inquired the plugin’s author and they couldn’t reply positively.. It looks like such plugins need to be upgraded to wp 3.1 as there are still in wp 3.0

    Which plugins?

Most of the third party plugins. Ex: Easy blogging

If you are *sure* the plugin is not network activated, and it does not appear on the individual site’s plugins page, then talk to the plugin author. they need to fix it.

Go look for it in the network admin plugin page as well.
