Configuration of wp.org mailserver

  • Well, first, this is not an issue with the wordpress-software. Its an issue with the mailserver from www.remarpro.com.

    I haven’t found another way to contact a suitable person, so i post it here ??
    In case I#m wrong here with this topic, so please tell me, who I can contact for.

    Dear www.remarpro.com, your mailserver ist not configured correctly. I dont receive any mails from wp.org. So i tailed my maillog and grepped for “wordpress” and found the following messages….

    postfix/smtpd[14680]: warning: 72.233.56.151: address not listed for hostname www.remarpro.com
postfix/smtpd[14680]: NOQUEUE: reject: RCPT from unknown[72.233.56.151]: 450 4.7.1 Client host rejected: cannot find your hostname, [72.233.56.151]; from=<[email protected]> to=<[email protected]> proto=ESMTP helo=<web13.luv.www.remarpro.com>

    This is effecting mails from plugin-repository, this forum and I don’t know what else. And yes, this is a misconfiguration in your mailservers, not in mine. I also made a hostlookup by myself and found the following.

    host www.remarpro.com
www.remarpro.com has address 72.233.56.139
www.remarpro.com has address 72.233.56.138
www.remarpro.com mail is handled by 10 mail.www.remarpro.com.

host mail.www.remarpro.com
mail.www.remarpro.com has address 72.233.56.180
mail.www.remarpro.com has address 72.233.56.181

host web13.luv.www.remarpro.com
web13.luv.www.remarpro.com has address 72.233.56.151

    I hope this will be fixed as soon as possible, because I am not able to receive any mails from you, there all rejected.

    I’ll pass it along, but it sounds like your mailserver is being too picky in its rejection of emails. We send email from one of 10-odd different servers, not through a central mail server. Any of the various web servers can send email, it’s not limited in that manner.

    There is simply missing a reverse DNS, which is part of any propper configuration ??

    I am not sure why your mail server cannot find the PTR record for 72.233.56.151 because it exists:

    ~ barry$ dig +short -x 72.233.56.151
www.remarpro.com.

    Can you troubleshoot that a bit more from your mail server and let us know what you find?

    It is true that the forward and reverse lookups don’t match – in order for that to happen we will have to change how things work a bit.

    With the dig-command I get the same result as you. But I added a whitelisting-system to my mailserver as a workaround, and I hope it works.

    I take a look what else my server can tell me ??
