• Hi,

I’ve been looking all over but cannot find how to do this. Any link that I create opens in a separate tab in Firefox, which is great.

However I cannot get pages on my WordPress site to open in a separate tab/page. They always open in the same page

    Example page:
    https://bosdr01/wordpress/?page_id=222

Unlike a link, I don’t have the ‘Target’ option when I edit them. I cannot add _blank or _top or _none as the target frame for a page.

I saw a couple of plug-ins that may address this issue, but none of them appear to be compatible with my version of WP (3.0.4).

    Thanks in advance

  • Please, please, do not pursue this. Forcing this on your potential visitors not only causes great aggravation but can, in some cases, render your site unusable.

    esmi,

Thanks for the advice. I think I understand what you’re saying. However I have been asked to provide this feature. I have corporate intranet users only on a site that is going to get very, very little traffic.

Can you explain why I shouldn’t do it? How it will render my site unusable?

    Thanks,
    JJJ

Some disabled users will be completely unable to return to the original page once a new window has been opened and has focus. This renders the site effectively unusable. If this is for an intranet site, I’d recommend speaking to the client’s HR or whoever administers their anti-discrimination polices.
