• For a few months now, Magic Fields has an issue loading on a post page – the “loading data” circles just spin. I can select “expand” and it will open the fields but adding data to it sometimes causes either “page not found”, it doesn’t add new data, or it will not allow the addition of another area (selecting “add another sidebar” doesn’t do anything). I tried changing the theme back to Twenty-Ten figuring it was our theme but the issue doesn’t change.

This has just happened to me on one site. I just get a “Loading Data” on my write panel items.

I wrote to the MF plugin authors and got a solution — sometimes this happens if a very large image has been uploaded through the MF interfece. I deleted it off the server and then everything went back to normal.

I found out that my issue with this was a javascript file conflicting. To be more specific, the file did not exist and was for another plugin. Once I copied the offending file to it’s correct folder, the js error went away, and my uploader fields for Magic Fields came back. This is likely the issue in many cases. Use “Inspect Element” in Chrome or Firebug in Firefox. I imagine that MF uses javascript and can’t load if another js library is jacked up or missing.
