Moving WordPress to a new server (kind of)

I have read the Moving WordPress tutorials and have tried to follow them exactly with no luck.

I am trying to move a wordpress blog that was a subdomain on one account into its own account now, within the same hosting provider and the same domain name. When I released the domain name from the original account in order to assign it to the new account, I was no longer able to access the (original) wp-admin area on the blog even though all the files are still at the old location.

I did a database backup and copied all the files onto my harddrive, and then uploaded those files to the new site, and imported the database, and renamed the wp-config.php file databases as well. Still no luck.

Then I went into simplescripts and made it ‘import’ the wordpress blog I had manually installed. It was able to do so but nothing shows up and I can’t access anything. This is driving me totally crazy, please help with any suggestions!
