• I don’t suppose many people have this problem, but here goes. Let’s say I’m editing some WordPress theme files, and decide to switch the tabs to look at some reference material (I do this a lot since I need lots of help with coding). As you know, in Firefox the keyboard shortcut for that is CTRL+Tab. However, it also activates the tab in WordPress editor. In the best case it just makes a tab space somewhere, in the worst it deletes a small bit of code that was selected, and if I don’t notice that, I have to look all over the place when things stop working.

A really small and obscure problem, but it has proven to be quite annoying to me at times ?? I don’t suppose it’s possible to prevent CTRL+Tab from triggering the editor thingy?

  • Chadew,

I know exactly what you are talking about. Its very annoying, and decreases my productivity too. Alas, I dont have a solution for you. Just wanted to give my vote to try and find a solution to this issue.

Try using ‘Tab – Right Arrow’ instead. https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Keyboard%20shortcuts#w_windows-tabs implies you can do that.

(Or you could edit themes in a text editor on your desktop, which IMO is better since you can have contextual hilighting, undo, and all the other fun tools.)

I didn’t understand what you meant, Ipstenu, sorry but could you rephrase it ?

Same problem on my side. I’m using the All In One Gestures firefox plugin, so quickly returning to my mouse, right-clicking and making a right/left moves allows me to change to the next/prev tab, but still, that’s a loss of productivity.

Firefox has other key combos than ctrl-tab to navigate, is what I mean.
