    Hi there!

I’ve just installed WordPress and the network extension with subdomains, which works great. However, when I add a subdomain through DirectAdmin and try to access it, WordPress asks me if I want to register a blog with that subdomain. Example:

I add ‘subdomain1.domain.com’ through DirectAdmin. I navigate to ‘subdomain1.domain.com’ and the address turns into ‘www.domain.com/wp-signup.php?new=subdomain1‘ and WordPress asks me if I want to register a blog.

If I add ‘subdomain1‘ to the ‘Forbidden Names’ section, it just redirects it to ‘domain.com’.

I hope you guys can help me solve this problem!

Did you CREATE a site named subdomain1 via WordPress? Cause thus far it’s working like it’s supposed to.

Are you creating a subdomain in direct Admin becasue you want to use it for something else outside of wordpress?

If not, you do not need to create them in Direct Admin for WP to use them.

    Thank you for your replies!

I created the subdomain to use it for something else, so I do not want to create a WordPress blog with it. ??

Then the wildcard record is above the new subdomain record in the vhosts. ??

    reverse ’em.
