[Plugin: Hyper Cache] Compression not working

I can’t get the gzip compression to work. If I turn it on, no cache files are generated on the server and the page becomes ‘unavailable’. I checked with my host and they run gzip and deflate on their Apache server. Other than that it works like a charm.
