Change HOME link in Menu

The default Twenty Ten theme (that comes with WP3) supports custom menus where you add/edit/delete the items you want. You can check in Admin – Appearance – Menus if your theme supports custom menu or not. If it does, you can add/change/delete menu-item there. If not, then you need to do some searching in your theme’s template to find the code.

This theme does not support custom menus, which is why i am stuck.

Does this look like the code?

I found it in Main Index Template file, i am a php novice btw ??

Another solution for this is if i could just delete HOME from that menu?

i need to keep the home link though, and make it point where i want it to.

You can have a page you create be the front page from https://yourdomainname.com

But what if you need post excerpts to be published on the front page? The system doesn’t put post excerpts on a page you create and set as the front page with Settings, Reading, Front Page Displays.

I managed to do it by deleting the original Home link, then adding a new home link and doing a page redirect!!

Can you not use an RSS feed for your issue?

I am trying to remove the home page and have my own static page in it’s place. I wanted to keep the blog and put it under a “blog” tab, now it seems I’ve lost that as well. Can someone please instruct this nube ??

I am not sure how but there will be a way to link the feed to your blog. But i am not an expert on that.

Use the Page list plus plugin to do page redirects, once installed go to its settings and make sure the redirect option is checked then you can go into page editor and scroll to the bottom where it gives you an option to redirect.

Make sure you put in the full URL including https://

Okay this is what i did;

I installed wordpress into https://www.mydomain/blog

I found the original Home link in the Header.php file and deleted it.

<li><a href="<?php bloginfo('url'); ?>">Home</a></li>

Thats what it looks like and i deleted it all.

Then i created a new page called Home.

I installed ‘page lists plus plugin’ which enables you to redirect pages.

Once installed go to its settings and make sure the redirect option is checked then you can go into page editor and scroll to the bottom where it gives you an option to redirect.

I then set home to redirect to my main home page (you have to put full URL including https:// )
