Been searching for a while and can’t really find anything…wanted to see if any of you have had this problem.

About a week ago, I began seeing the “Error establishing connection with database” error when visiting my homepage.

The only way I could seem to fix this was to go into my wp-config file, get the DB password, and go into MySQL management and reset the password to what was in the wp-config file. The site would then load just fine.

However this seems to be happening on a daily basis now.

Is there some type of script, possibly on the server my site is hosted on, and that changing passwords? Does anyone have a suggestion of how I could either write-protect this, or permanently keep it from changing?

I’m hosted on GoDaddy, and my website is https://hatchedprints.com/

    Thanks for any help!

I’d suggest that you a word with your hosts to find out how the password on your database is being changed.

I’ve sent them a support ticket, but wasn’t sure if there was perhaps something I was missing on my side.

There’s nothing in WordPress core that would ever reset your database password. Doesn’t mean that there aren’t plugins out there that can do it – either by design or inadvertently – but I’ve not come across one yet.

It just happened again today, so instead of going in and fixing I’ve contacted godaddy.

Unfortunately the last time they responded they insisted I must have malware on my site, and that is the only solution. I have done several checks on the site with no type of malware detected, so I tend to think that is incorrect.

    bah, this is frustrating!
