I would like to turn off the comments

    You mean unchecking “anyone posts a comment” in admin does now work for you?

    if that’s the case, try:

    -switching to the default theme for a moment. The idea is to force WordPress to fall back to the default theme to rule out any theme-specific issue.

    -if that does not resolve the issue, try deactivating ALL plugins temporarily to narrow down and possibly fix the problem. If the problem goes away, activate them individually (one-by-one) to find the culprit.

    Thanks t-p! I did switch to the default theme, as well as deleting pages, only to start over. Thank goodness I didn’t have to delete all my plugins. Though that might have been easier…HA! Thanks again, t-p.
