    Hi,

I’ve got a couple of custom post types, and I’ve been working away happily with them. Now I’ve handed over control to other users, when they try an add a custom post type to a menu via Appearance > Menus they only see pages. However, when I log in as me, there they are, bold as brass. The people who are using the system are all admins, same as me. Any idea why this is happening?

    Cheers

The Screen Options – what’s displayed and what’s hidden – are user-specific, not site-specific. I’m guessing at some point you clicked “Screen Options” in the top right and toggled on those custom post types. This only applied to your user, not everyone on the site.

So the solution is to ask the other users to navigate to Appearances > Menus, click the “Screen Options” button in the top right and turn on what they’d like.

Ah, that’s interesting. They were indeed unchecked and now show up. However my user says they didn’t uncheck them. Is there any way of making sure they’re checked by default?

    Cheers

OK, I’ve searched all over and the Screen options is no where to be found. Just did a fresh install of 3.1, I am getting a banner for Jet Pack which will not go away. Please help!!

@billerickson – Thank you for this… this was driving me crazy… sometimes it’s the simple things you forget to check. Apparently new custom post types sometimes/always default hidden…

@clgent – your totally off topic but deactivate the JetPack plugin, that banner is there because you have JetPack installed and activated, but not fully configured (ie. connected to wp.com)
