Is there any way to remove www. prefix from URL?

Is there a WP plugin, or an easy way, to remove www from URLs?
I know WP.com did this a while ago…
when a user goes to https://mysite.com/wp, the browser ALWAYS displays the URL as https://www.mysite.com/wp
How do I tell my website to stop doing that? It makes the URL longer and uglier.
