[Plugin: TDO Mini Forms] Default author/subscriber role error

Hi everyone-
I’m trying to run TDO Mini Forms, but have been having some problems. I keep getting the same error of “Default author can publish posts. Default author should not be able to publish posts!” I tried using the “create a dummy user” link, but it still gives me the same error – it claims that my default role (subscriber) is giving write access.

I’ve tried using another plugin (User Access Manager) to create a group of users with only read access and creating a new user under THAT group, but it won’t show up in the dropdown in the configuration page.

I’m pulling my hair out here. WHY does it keep telling me this?! I *know* my subscriber role is set as the default, and even using pre-existing users (not using the UAM plugin) with only that role isn’t working.
