Need advice for WordPress as CMS

Hi Guys,

I need some advice on which road to take on a new project. What i want to do is create a website (non-blog) where i have a register page and login page that are integrated with the website theme like a traditional website. When the user log’s into the website I don’t want them to be redirected to the wordpress dashboard. However they will have a new backend that i will create. So what i need help with is how I need to go about customizing my own registration page, and how i need to handle logins. Any documentation, examples, or advice you can give me will be greatly appreciated.
