• Hi there everyone,
Hopefully you can give me some hints, tips and tricks on how to achieve the following.
I’m gathering information on how it is the best way to have a multisite on multidomains.

First of all some background information.

    I have several TLD (TopLevelDomains)
    I have for example a https://www.myname.com, https://www.myname.fr, myname.eu, myname.be and myname.nl
Offline I have build a single WordPress site in several languages (with a multilanguage plugin)

    I have this idea.

To install on every domain WordPress and build up the pages in each language necessary

    OR

To intall WordPress 3.04 MultiSite on the myname.eu (Main TLD) where the language can be chosen and there is a redirect to the specific domain.
I have read the forums talking about the 3.04 MultiSite option (SuperAdmin) and the Domain Mapping PlugIn.

I know how to do it in theory but not in real life.

Also all the content is now in ONE offline WordPress site with a MultiLanguage Plugin.
This Content needs to be uploaded into online WordPress site
How do I achieve this with seperating the languages to the specific domains.

    Thanks in advance

Sure, you can use MultiSite for that. Though … The only reason I might is so that people can comment in their own language. You’d really just download all the language packs and make en.domain.com and fr.domain.com like normal, post in the appropriate language, and activate the language per site.

it’s not any different than this:

To install on every domain WordPress and build up the pages in each language necessary

Except you just use one WordPress install.

The redirect to specific domains (by clicking a flag or what have you) is just theming.

    Ok,

let me be more specific then.
I have recently installed wordpress on https://www.samskitchen.eu I also have the following domains registerd which are frameforwared to the .eu site. (www.samskitchen.com; samskitchen.de; https://www.samskitchen.fr; https://www.samskitchen.nl; https://www.samskitchen.be

For this moment the .eu site is in English.

The point is that I want to build a Dutch site (.nl) and a French site(.fr). I’ll detach de FrameForward to those sites.

    Do I:

1: Install on the newly created dutch and french domain wordpress and build the sites.

2: Use the .EU as the mainsite and then configure WordPress as a Network, install the DomainMapping plug-in to setup the domainname mapping to the specific domains and build the site from there?

    Is this been done?

It’s been done both ways. #2 would be my choice, personally.
