New User Questions about Login

  • I just installed WordPress via Fantastico as it is provided by my host. It said it was installed successfully, but now I have no idea how to log in. I was never prompted to log in anywhere! Also, do I have to create a blog FIRST on WordPress to be able to access the site? I thought I was supposed to install it and then I could create?

    O geesh…forgive because i am BRAND new to this. i purchased a domain yesterday and it is wwww.socialmediameetsbusiness.com. What I was thinking would happen, was that when I downloaded WordPress, I’d be able to create a blog with the same name…or somehow it would be linked to a website I’d produce later? I installed the 3.0.4 zip file?

    Do I need to create a blog first using the free option and then move it somehow?

    You first need to wait for 48-72 hours to allow your new domain name to propagate fully.

    Ok, that makes sense now. Will I then be able to create a blog once I am able to login to WordPress?

    Yes. You already have a blog on the domain (ie WordPress). Once you domain name has propagated fully, you’ll be able to login via https://your_domain/path-to_wordpress/wp-admin
