[Plugin: Google XML Sitemaps] Google Sitemap Status big Read X

Same error here. Plugin is broken.

Been a long time since this plugin generated any sitemaps at my site as well, just noticed. Needs an update perhaps?

Again, I would agree… I have had Google News Bot parked on my site for hours, and not pick-up a single article… the webmasters tools show the big red X as well with a notation to something being “broken” in the sitemap… and I haven’t a clue…

i have the same problem, but just on one of my wordpress installs. my visitor count already dropped by 60%!!!!!!

please give some advice

you’ve probably have fallen victim to the all new and improved Google News… that is, they are keeping trash sites like examiner.com and many more, and booting all the new start-up sites… just not profitable for Google News…

I found that my XML Sitemap Generator plugin was set to add additional pages as recommended by the description for that section which states:

“Here you can specify files or URLs which should be included in the sitemap, but do not belong to your Blog/WordPress.
For example, if your domain is https://www.foo.com and your blog is located on https://www.foo.com/blog you might want to include your homepage at https://www.foo.com&#8221;

It seems that google doesn’t like multiple version of a URL in the sitemap. I removed the additional pages in that section of the plugin setup and now get the green checkmark for my sitemap files.

I had a similar problem (red cross).
I ran my sitemap through an online validator and found some problems, which I am going to try and fix, hopefully it will solve the problem with Google Webmasters Tools.
