More Image problems

I am uploading images., I have made them small.
They seem to upload fine but don’t show up (they just show the alt text and a broken link) HOWEVER if i click on “edit Image: the image shows so it obviously uploaded.

Very confusing, this hasn’t happened before and I use wp a LOT
(I have plenty of band width)and this is happening with any image I try at the moment and whether I am using a gallery or trying to insert it into a post by itself.

the links have a 404 error when you click them. Is this something I need to change the permissions for? I dont know why it is different all of a sudden?
