    I have two issues.
    (1) My links andcategory links are appearing on my site with a zero after them. I am using the Pink Orchid theme, installed it through the WordPress Admin Panel. Mac OS X 10.6.5, browser Firefox (latest).
Most of the few plug-ins I have, I installed through the Admin panel. So I did manually install a few, but in trying to correct the problem, I re-installed the theme after backing up the critical files – did not fix it. It appears to be in the pluggable.php file.
So (2) I get this error when editing the links/categories/widgets (through the admin panel)

Warning: Cannot modify header information – headers already sent by (output started at /home/content/69/7097469/html/justgotlayed/wp-content/themes/pink-orchid/functions.php:19) in /home/content/69/7097469/html/justgotlayed/wp-includes/pluggable.php on line 890

And when I create a new or edit an existing post I get at the time of doing it:

Warning: Cannot modify header information – headers already sent by (output started at /home/content/69/7097469/html/justgotlayed/wp-content/themes/pink-orchid/functions.php:19) in /home/content/69/7097469/html/justgotlayed/wp-includes/classes.php on line 1601

but I click update anyway and get rolled right back to the error referred to in (1) —

Warning: Cannot modify header information – headers already sent by (output started at /home/content/69/7097469/html/justgotlayed/wp-content/themes/pink-orchid/functions.php:19) in /home/content/69/7097469/html/justgotlayed/wp-includes/pluggable.php on line 890

I have to admit I tried to configure Twitter Anywhere by adding code to the sidebar.php page.
Lastly (3) when I go to create a new post, it will do so, but on the post admin page I get thiserror:

Warning: Cannot modify header information – headers already sent by (output started at /home/content/69/7097469/html/justgotlayed/wp-content/themes/pink-orchid/functions.php:19) in /home/content/69/7097469/html/justgotlayed/wp-includes/classes.php on line 1601

I think that’s more than enough to ask for help for at this point.
I do have BBEdit, so can attempt to follow instruction to fix it. ATP I am tempted to just trash the blog files, and reinstall completely.
Thank you in advance, Mrs. Brooks

  • Try:
    – switching to the Twenty Ten theme by renaming your current theme’s folder in wp-content/themes using FTP or whatever file management application your host provides.

resetting the plugins folder by FTP or phpMyAdmin.

    – re-running the upgrade manually using /wp-admin/upgrade.php.

First, thank you for being so exquisitely prompt! I never did give you the site: https://www.mrsbrooks.com/justgotlayed
I want to be sure that I understand you correctly. For FTP I am using (free) Classic FTP. So, I…

    • connect via FTP and rename the Pik Orchid folder so “it’s not looked for”
    • Activate the Twenty Ten theme
      <li I have no idea what you mean by re-setting th plug-ins, and don’t know what/where phpMyAdmin is… =(
    • I have no idea how to begin to do a manual upgrade

    Sorry for being a pain!!!

You’re quite correct about renaming the theme. The same process can be used for the wp-content/plugins folder – as you’ll see from the link I gave above.

    I have installed phpMyAdmin from the WP admin panel afte renaming my them folder to Pink-Orchid_old. Next step to ? In the table wp_options, under the option_name column (field) find the active_plugins row and to Change the option_value field to: a:0:{}

I don’t know where to find the table wp_options so far. Still looking…

    It’s in your WordPress database.

Thank you! I found it, and to my utter disbelief it worked! So now I am using Twenty Ten and trying to add back features. It will be interesting to se how to reclaim my categories of links, and links. Easy enough to re-make though.
Your help was phenomenal, please accept my sincere appreciation, emsi!
I will fro this point on only install plug-ins through the WP interface. Do you think that was the thing that “broke” my theme?

See! We do suggest some useful stuff sometimes. ??

My guess is that you have/had a bad plugin somewhere. Unfortunately, downloading plugins from www.remarpro.com is no guarantee of code quality as they are not reviewed before inclusion in the Plugins Directory and some may not have been updated for a while. I’d suggest that you take into account factors like:

    – how often the plugin has been updated in the last 12 months
    – the documented WordPress version compatibility
    – any votes for/against the plugin
    – the number of forum topics about the plugin that have received a timely response.
    – whether the plugin developer host his/her own active support forum

What you’re effectively trying to assess is what level of support is available if things do wrong and whether the author is updating the plugin regularly to correct bugs and/or incorporate new features. The plugins with the best support and upgrade record are often the most solid in terms of coding/compatibility.

All great advice! And hey, I never said ‘nuttin bad abut you guys LOL! For m first foray, I’d say this is really welcome success! Thanks again!
…Now to find out why the NexGen Slideshow made a my most recent posts and admin panel disappear (I bet I put it in their widget space??>)… But first I have to put the critters to bed =)
    Cheers! =)
