NEED unlimited threaded comments to open with link in useless WP/BP installation

I am trying to put together community site similar 2 facebook.

I installed wp and burrypress with the theme named custom-community.

I just realized (2late?) that either buddypress or custom-community theme is using threaded comments when users replies to each other posts. That renders my work pointless: imagine that on facebook once you post a photo there could be only 10 comments?

Further more, all threaded comments are visble under all parent comments on the activity page! In facebook, you only see parent comments and number of current replys/link to that post page with all reply’s…so how do I mirror facebook in this regard? Where should I start?

I need to unlimit threaded comments in wp or bp and then to show only parent commets in buddypress activity page…anyone has idea how this could be done?
