Help expand post into sidebar from front page

I am wanting to roll out some new features on my blog and one of them is something seen on Twitter. When you click in the post area, information expands into the sidebar. Can something like this be done in WordPress? Maybe using an iframe or something? I want the post title to still link to the full page, but I want a reader to be able to click in the post area to load it in the sidebar and be able to close it in order to return to the regular sidebar.

Is this possible in WordPress?

If it helps, I’m using a modified version of the 2-column Blogsimplified theme that was made wider and the proportions between the main content area and the sidebar are nearly 50/50 with the exception of padding.
