Currently I have moved my web hosting from WordPress.com to Bluehost.com, and I want to move my Jetpack linkage with it, so my readers still can get E-mail notifications when new posts come out. However, my old Jetpack linkage is still on a wpcomstaging site (https://countzeroor.wpcomstaging.com/), and I’m not able to link the Connection Manager to unlink it from my old site and re-link it to the new.

When attempting to access the Connection Manager directly on the old site (through “/wp-admin/admin.php?page=jetpack-connection-manager”), I get the message “Sorry, you are not allowed to access this page.” and when attempting to activate Jetpack on the new site, I get the error “401: Jetpack: [unknown_token] It looks like your Jetpack connection is broken. Try disconnecting from WordPress.com then reconnecting.”

I just want my readers to still be able to get E-mail notifications for new blog posts. Can you help me?

Hey @countzeroor – on the site which you have on Bluehost right now, as per the error message, did you try to disconnect and reconnect Jetpack there? Apart from this, we also need two more information to investigate the issue correctly:

    • Do you also want to transfer the list of subscribers from the site you have on WordPress.com to Bluehost?
    • Could you please share the site address/URL for the site with us that you have on Bluehost?

If you want it to remain the information private, you can also contact us via this contact form.

If you choose to reach out directly, please include a link to this thread.

The error message came when I tried to reactivate the Jetpack plugin. I think I might have attempted to disconnect and reconnect Jetpack there – or at least to disconnect the old site through there.

I would like to transfer my subscriber list from WordPress.com to Bluehost, and my Bluehost site is CountZeroOr.com.

Hey @countzeroor – thanks for sharing that and the site address. Since the site that you have currently on Bluehost was never connected to Jetpack, we don’t see a Blog ID for it in our system, and we need a Blog ID before we do the subscriber transfer process so we will first need to resolve the connection issue and then we can help you with transferring the subscriber.

Because disconnecting and reconnecting Jetpack didn’t help you, I’d like you to try a few things here. First, please download, install, and activate this plugin on your site:

Once this plugin activated on the site, it will remove any stale Jetpack data on the site, and the plugin will uninstall automatically.

After that, please uninstall and reinstall the Jetpack plugin, then try to connect again. Let me know how it went for you.

Okay. Jetpack was able to be reinstalled and activated on my Bluehost, er, hosted CountZeroOr.com

Howdy @countzeroor, I see that there is a Jetpack connection now for your site CountZeroOr.com but it is only a site-only connection. To connect your user account navigate to your WP Admin menu Jetpack -> My Jetpack -> Connection and click on Connect.

Follow the steps on that page to authorize connecting your user account and let us know when this is completed.

    That is completed.

    Hi @countzeroor

Your subscribers have been moved to your self-hosted site. You can see your list at:

    https://cloud.jetpack.com/subscribers/countzeroor.com

With that, you should be all set. I’m going to mark this threat as resolved, but feel free to open a new thread if you have issues in the future.
