• Hello.

I’m having an issue with the plugin settings. Store location is set to Slovakia, Keep VAT in selected countries set to Base country and VAT is still subtracted from the order when valid VAT is entered.

Additionally, I tried to set Keep VAT in selected countries to Comma separated list and entered SK to the corresponding input. The result is the same – VAT is still subtracted from the order.

    How to fix it?

  • Hi @shamanua,

I hope you’re having a great day so far.

I’m sorry to hear about the issue you’re encountering. That’s quite strange because I just tested it on my end by changing the base country to Slovakia, enabling the option, and using a valid VAT number. The VAT amount still appears not subtracted.

To help troubleshoot, could you please confirm the following?

    • Are you using the latest version 4.3.1?
    • If you’re using the block-based checkout, have you enabled the Block-Based Option in the Advanced tab?

If the issue persists, please share your site URL and a screenshot of your settings. That will help us track the issue more effectively.

    Looking forward to your response!

    Hi @tahaamin
    Thank you for the response!

I found that if user’s shipping and billing country set to Slovakia, the functionality works as expected. But if user has other European country (France, for example) in shipping and billing country, VAT is subtracted even if user selects Slovakia instead of France on checkout.

    Hi @shamanua,

Thanks for your confirmation! Yes, that behavior is expected.

To prevent the VAT from being deducted when the shipping country is different from the billing country, you can try to enable the “Keep VAT if shipping country is different from billing country” option in the same tab.

I’m glad to hear that everything is working well now! Please don’t hesitate to reach out if you need any further assistance.

    And answering your questions:
We are using 4.3.1 version of the plugin and 4.2.3 version of Pro one.
Block Based option (Checkout block field one) is enabled in Advanced tab

@tahaamin, the option to keep VAT if shipping country is different from billing country is not good for us.

We don’t use shipping country at all so user cannot change it. So if in profile of the user country is France and on checkout user selects Belgium and enters valid Belgium VAT, keeping the VAT is not ok.

Expected behavior for us is to keep VAT if user selects Slovakia as Billing country and enters valid Slovakian VAT number.

    Hi @shamanua,

    Apologies for the delayed response.

From what I understand, your current plugin setup seems to match your needs—please let me know if that’s correct.

Since you’re a Pro user, please disable the free version, as only one version should be active. Also, ensure that you’ve updated to the latest version (4.3.1). Here is a link to help you update the plugin to the latest version.

Let me know if you need any assistance with this!

    Hi @tahaamin.

I thought I was pretty clear that currently plugin doesn’t work as expected. Let me try to explain it again.

When a user’s Country/Region in their profile differs from the store’s base country, but at checkout, the user selects the store’s base country as the billing country (Slovakia, in this case) and enters a valid VAT for that country, the VAT is subtracted from the order despite the “Keep VAT in selected countries” setting being configured to retain VAT in the country.

    It’s an obvious bug.

    Hello, @tahaamin

    I hope you’re OK.

Is there any update on the bug? It really blocks us.

    Hi @shamanua,

I’m doing well, and I hope you’re doing fine too. Apologies for not updating you earlier.

I have reported this to our development team, and they will get back to you soon. However, I believe this might be a misconfiguration issue. From my testing, I found that the same scenario works without deducting the VAT amount while having Slovakia as the base country.

    Here’s what I observed:

    • The account address is set to Germany.
    • When reaching checkout, if a valid German VAT number is entered, the VAT is deducted.
    • However, if the country is changed to Slovakia with the same VAT number, the VAT remains undeducted.
    • I also tested with a Netherlands VAT number and observed the same behavior.

Until the development team confirms this, I suggest reaching out to us via a support ticket for faster resolution at [email protected], as I would like to share a video demonstrating the issue. Also, make sure to use only one plugin either the free or the pro version.

?and 4.2.3 version of Pro one
