• Not only did they take a plugin that was free and forced it to be paid, but they made it exceptionally worse than the free version as well. When I first saw the update I didn’t see anything about a pricing change anywhere (which was fishy). I was unsure but they never forced me to enter my credit card info so I went through with it. I didn’t find out until I came to the reviews that they want $5 a month for this? For a buggy plugin that barely works and has less customizable options than the free version? Doesn’t show up on mobile, can’t change the icon color, says they give you positioning freedom but you can’t put it any closer “5px” (more like 20px) from the edge of your window. Looks to me like someone tried replacing a good computer scientist for AI to make a subscription plugin and make some more money. Shameful.

    Hi Erik,

I understand that you are not happy with the latest update, and we do apologize for any issues you encounter. We will be happy to assist if you open a ticket with us for any technical issues.

As for the payment you mentioned, the feature is completely free and does not require any payment, only an account with Elementor.

Would you mind sharing where or at which point were you asked to pay for it? as we did not in any step involve payments for Ally accessibility, it is completely free and would like to investigate this statement.

“Completely free” is a bit disingenuous, I see this obscure note:
Free Trial – Web Accessibility, Expiration Date: Mar 2026.

I’ll add Elementor to the growing list of WordPress vendors that can’t be trusted not to bait and switch.

Hi, thank you for the response.

The plugin is completely free and will remain free, the name was changed so it is marked as “free”.

There is an expiration date only because everything in the store needs to have one, but it does not mean the plugin will become a paid subscription or stop working.
