• I have to agree with those who have found version 5 to be a complete disaster. Thankfully only one of the sites I look after had that plugin set to auto-update. I’ve reverted that one site to a pre-5 version and will have to rebuild the backup jobs.

Whatever premise drove your thinking on this update it seems likely that the future viability of the plugin may hinge on seriously reassessing it.

I will certainly be looking for a replacement – or waiting for the fork that is likely coming – if you decide to carry on in the current trajectory.

    Hi,

We understand your frustration and appreciate your feedback. The update was aimed at simplifying the backup process, but we acknowledge that it has impacted long-time users with more customized setups.

We are actively listening to user feedback and working on refinements, including bringing back custom scheduling in the free version. Additionally, we’re reviewing other areas where more flexibility could improve the experience.

If there’s anything specific that would make v5 work better for you, we’d love to hear it.

    Best regards.

My feedback would be that you have a very short window within which to regain the trust of the thousands of people who have relied upon this plugin as a critical part of their WordPress installations.

For many it will be too late, but for those waiting to see what happens, I would suggest that a complete & rapid reinstatement of the things that made this plugin so popular is the only way forward – which basically means reverting to 4.1.7 functionality.

Then have a good think about how to improve the plugin where it’s actually needed.

Your existing users are your greatest asset and keep in mind that only a small percentage of them will take the time to give you feedback on version 5, most will silently leave.
