    Hey Jeremy,

You might remember me, we use to chat about Trakt and your plugin probably 2-3 years ago. I am revisiting this plugin because I have redesigned my website. I would like to offer some help in possibly modernizing this plugin and making sure it’s not only visually nice but also kept up to date with the changes that Trakt has done with it’s new API.

We can discuss here or we can exchange email addresses (again) to discuss.

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

I’m not actively working on the plugin right now, but I’d be happy to make some improvements if you have some ideas or feedback!

I must say I don’t think it’s really worth making changes to the plugin for the frontend of a site. WordPress’ site editor has come a long way, and I find it’s really useful to leverage all the details that are logged by the Traktivity plugin. It’s become really easy to display TV episodes and all their meta data for example, by just inserting “Show”, “Season”, “Genre”, and other blocks into my theme’s templates.

That said, if you can think of different data that would be worth logging from the Trakt API, so it can be accessed and displayed on the frontend if necessary, I’m all ears! Don’t hesitate to share your ideas here in this thread.

    Thank you!

You know what…after I did more research, and after I came here to comment on this plugin, I thought to myself that I bet Trakt might already offer a “widget” that would solve my needs. It might not be as sophisticated or offer as much customizations, I did find that in mid 2024 they released a few different sets of widgets.

I think I am going to give those a try before spending any time on the plugin.

Are those the widgets you had in mind? Was there a specific widget that you wanted to include on your site?

Looking at the widgets on that page, I think the site editor makes it relatively easy to build such widgets today. In the video below, I spent a few minutes trying to build a small widget. It’s not perfect of course, I didn’t really attempt to style the widget, but I think that’s a good example of how you can start.
