Our consortium uses Content Cafe for cover images. We’ve created a bookshelf for our new book club & noticed that the ISBN for the Fire Exit audiobook CD isn’t generating a cover. The alt text doesn’t show up either so patrons can only see “No image available” & no way to understand what it is until they click through to the item in our catalog. The item’s bib record in our catalog includes the ISBN but no cover shows up there either.

I remembered seeing something in changelogs recently about this topic and Syndetics but didn’t see anything for Content Cafe.

LibraryThing used to have a default cover background image so that if you entered a title with no cover image, something like the images on this link would show up and the title info (alt text) was displayed on the cover. https://wiki.librarything.com/index.php/Default_cover_contest

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

With most of the image server options you can replace the default/missing cover image with an image of your own, unfortunately this does not work with Content Cafe so it’s irrelevant in your case.

Display of the alt text is an option you can turn on:
In Bookshelves > Settings > Slider Settings tab check Captions or Captions Overlay

You might also question B&T why they don’t have covers for certain ISBNs. I suspect the answer will be that they don’t sell it. They have covers for some non-print ISBNs, but not others.
