Not showing referrals from Telegram

    Hi

    Have been loving the recent discovery of WP Statistics and I’m slowly getting my head around it.

    Over the last couple of days I’ve promoted a number of pages on Telegram and WP Statistics is not showing any referrals from there. Is that something particular with Telegram because of it’s focus on security and encryption maybe?

    Can anyone provide insights into this?

    Regarding your question, referral information from Telegram depends on how users are accessing the links:

    1. Telegram iOS App: Unfortunately, due to limitations with iOS apps, referral information is not passed to us, so you won’t see the source in these cases.
    2. Telegram Android App: For Android, we can detect the app name as the source, so referrals from the Telegram app should appear in your statistics.
    3. Telegram Web (web.telegram.org): If the links are being opened through Telegram’s web version or via channel previews using the t.me domain, you should see these domains as the referral source.

    If none of these seem to apply, let us know, and we’ll be happy to help troubleshoot further.

    Thank you for this info. It’s not really a surprise to read, but maybe that’s also a good thing.

    While I can’t confirm how many have clicked from within Telegram, or with which device, it’s difficult to tell if information is not reaching Telegram. While the channel only has 500 members, it’s hard to believe that not one person had Telegram on Android.

    My own device is android and I did click on links more than once, but there is no recorded traffic from Telegram in WP Statistics.

    I don’t need you to look into this on my behalf because it isn’t crucial, but I thought it worth being brought to light.

    … further to my previous reply, I have just seen that there is now a notification of referral from Android Telegram app in WP Statistics on the website in question. (Just to let you know) ??

    We have reviewed the issue, and there is no error. For the Android app, in some cases, the referrer information is not sent, which makes it impossible for us to record the source of the traffic accurately. However, we do detect and track traffic from the Telegram web version and links from t.me. If you need further clarification or have additional questions, feel free to reach out!
