Hi @therightcause,

I understand that the automatic tax setup for your preferred locations isn’t appearing as expected on the cart page. I tried accessing the screenshot you mentioned to better understand the issue, but it seems access hasn’t been granted for viewing.

Could you please update the screenshot permissions so we can take a closer look at your tax settings?

In the meantime, it would also be helpful if you could share your System Status Report to give us a better understanding of your setup. Here’s how you can get it:

1. Go to your WordPress dashboard and navigate to WooCommerce > Status.
2. Click on Get system report and then Copy for support.

If there are any fatal error logs, please share those as well. You can find these under WooCommerce > Status > Logs.

Once you’ve gathered this information, please paste it into a Code block in your reply or use pastebin.com to share the link with us.

Thank you for sharing the screenshot again and providing SSR! I’ve tried checking the issue from my side, but it seems the site is currently in maintenance mode. 

From the screenshot, it looks like you’ve set up automated tax for the United States (US), but your cart page indicates that the address is currently set to India (IN). Could you try switching the country to the United States (US) and see how it appears on your end?

Make sure to enter the full address so the system can accurately calculate the tax based on the specified region or country. You can update this by clicking the “Change Address” option.

Hello Thanks for your reply. The site is not live because I have Tax issues not fixed yet as I mentioned. And with regard to card the address was Indiana, IN, USA not India. But as you said I have added another address of Memphis TN, USA as well and cart is still showing no taxes . Please see screen shot located here .

Just to note, if your store is based in the United States, you’re only required to collect sales tax from customers in locations where your business has a “tax nexus.” A tax nexus typically refers to having a physical presence in a state such as an office, warehouse, or inventory—or meeting specific sales thresholds. You can find more details about this here: WooCommerce Tax Documentation.

Could you please provide a full screenshot of your General Settings, including your store address? You can find this under WooCommerce > Settings > General. If you don’t already have a screenshot tool installed, Snipboard.io is a quick and easy option for sharing screenshots.

Thanks for your reply. As per my understanding I need to collect taxes where the product is being shipped right? Instead where store is located. Since it is online store I dont have any physical store location. Please guide me what are the rules and how to set that up? Also this conversation is taking alot of time because of delayed messages. Can we setup some zoom call ? Any ways here is the screen shot uploaded you requested.

I understand the complexities of sales tax obligations, especially for online businesses without a physical presence.

To clarify further, in the United States, sales tax collection is determined by “nexus,” which refers to a connection between your business and a state. Traditionally, this was established through a physical presence, such as an office or warehouse.

However, following the 2018 Supreme Court decision in South Dakota v. Wayfair, Inc., states can now require businesses to collect sales tax based on economic presence. This means that even without a physical location, if your sales exceed certain thresholds in a state, you may be obligated to collect sales tax there.

The first step you would need to take is to Identify States Where You Have Economic Nexus: Each state has its own criteria for economic nexus, often based on sales revenue or the number of transactions.

For instance, many states set a threshold of $100,000 in sales or 200 transactions annually. So now you can review your sales or transaction to determine where you meet or exceed these thresholds.
