WooPayments and Stripe
-
Hello, I have only activated WooPayments as a payment method, I received a payment and after a few days I saw a transfer from Stripe arrive in my bank, how does it work? Does WooPayments use Stripe for payments? Thanks.

Hi @userweb
Thanks for reaching out! Yes, WooPayments uses Stripe as its underlying payment processor. While WooPayments integrates seamlessly with your WooCommerce store, Stripe handles the actual processing of payments and transfers to your bank account.
Here’s how it works:
- When a customer pays, WooPayments processes the transaction via Stripe.
- Stripe collects the funds, deducts the transaction fees, and then transfers the net amount to your linked bank account on a set schedule (daily, weekly, etc.).
- That’s why you’ll see the payout labeled as coming from Stripe, even though you’re using WooPayments.
You can review all transactions in your WooCommerce dashboard under Payments > Transactions. This will show details like the amount received, fees deducted, and payout status. If needed, you can also manage payout schedules and more from the WooPayments dashboard.
You can learn more about the partnership between WooPayments and Stripe by visiting this detailed guide: WooPayments Partnership with Stripe.Let us know if you have any other questions or need help with anything else. We’re happy to assist!
Hi, thanks, everything is very clear! There is only one thing I didn’t understand, so through WooPayments it is not necessary to have my own Stripe account?
How can I have the invoice for the fees withheld for the transaction?Hi @userweb
You’re absolutely right. WooPayments doesn’t require you to set up your own Stripe account. It’s powered by Stripe and automatically creates a special type of Stripe account called a “Stripe Express” account during the signup process. If you’d like to check the fees charged for a transaction, you can follow these steps:
- Navigate to Payments in your WooPayments dashboard.
- Click on Transactions from the menu.
- Select any transaction to view its details, including the fees charged.
Keep in mind that invoices for these transactions are usually generated monthly and are typically available around the 10th of each month. If you don’t see them right away, it might just mean they haven’t been generated yet.

Hi thanks, following the path you tell me, I arrive at the point shown in the screenshot, where am I going wrong?
Hi @userweb ,
Thanks for reaching out! It looks like you’re navigating a different path.
To view recent transactions on your site, you can go to WordPress Dashboard > Payments > Transactions. This section displays all recent transactions made on your site through the WooPayments plugin, provided your users have chosen one of the available payment options.I hope this helps.
Thanks, ok, now I saw where it is, I see that the invoices are under “documents”, if a transaction occurred on November 5th, will the invoice be available on November 10th or December 10th?
I see that there are other invoices but to download them it asks me to register the VAT number, I follow the procedure but then trying to download the invoices again it asks me to register the VAT number that I registered, what can I do?
Thanks!Hi @userweb ,
Thank you for reaching out! Typically, invoices for the previous month are generated on the 10th day of each month. You should be able to access the monthly invoice reports for November on December 10th.
I understand you’ve encountered an issue with downloading other invoices, as it’s requesting a VAT number. Could you please provide a screenshot of how this appears on your end? This will help us better understand your current position and assist you more effectively. If you don’t already have a screenshot tool, you can use Snipboard.io to easily capture and share screenshots.

Hi, this is what I see from my station:
https://ibb.co/yVGNRZKHi @userweb ,
Thank you for sharing the screenshot—it helped us better understand the situation.
It seems the system is prompting you to configure your VAT number again, which is expected behavior. If tax details weren’t provided before attempting to download an invoice, you’ll be prompted to submit them at that time. Once you’ve provided your tax details, they’ll be applied to all your invoices, and you won’t be prompted again.
For detailed guidance on configuring your VAT details, please refer to this documentation:
Providing Tax Details. However, if you’ve already configured your VAT details and the system didn’t recognize or save them successfully, I recommend trying to set them up again through the prompt.
Please let us know if this resolves the issue or if you need further assistance.
Hi, I didn’t understand how to enter the tax details, maybe I haven’t entered them yet, where do I enter them before downloading the invoices?

Hi, thanks for the help, going to payments, I can’t find the “Taxes documentation” option, I only see “documentation” where I find the invoices that I can’t download, what am I doing wrong?
https://ibb.co/929nPkdHi @userweb ,
I’m sorry if my earlier explanation about setting up the tax number was unclear. Let me clarify:
The configuration will only prompt you to provide your tax number when you attempt to download an invoice. If you didn’t enter the TAX number during the initial prompt, you’ll need to do so the first time, and you won’t be asked again afterward.
When you download an invoice for the first time, you’ll see a prompt to provide your VAT number. You can complete the setup from there:
I also recommend checking this guide for more details on configuring it: Providing Tax Details.
If you still have any questions or need further clarification, feel free to reach out.
Hi, as I was telling you, when I try to download an invoice it asks me to enter the VAT number, I enter the number but then the invoice does not let me download it, it continues to ask me to enter the VAT number again, this is the problem, thanks.
Hi there!
Thank you for reaching out. I understand your concern about being unable to download the invoice even after adding the VAT details. To assist you further, could you please confirm whether you are adding the country prefix before the VAT number? For example, the country prefix for France is FR, so the VAT number would look like FR 123456789.
If you are already adding the country prefix with the VAT number, please try adding the prefix and the VAT number without any space between them to see if that resolves the issue. If the issue persists, I recommend trying to add the VAT number using a different browser or an incognito window.
Could you also confirm if you are seeing any error messages or notices while adding the VAT number? Additionally, it would be helpful if you could share the fatal error logs (if any) from WooCommerce > Status > Logs.
Thank you for your cooperation and understanding. I look forward to your reply!
