• Hi there,

I have a website in which I’m using Cookie Yes and I implemented the Google Consent Mode through your Method 2 (with the custom code). I also enabled in your app:

    • Allow Google tags to fire before consent
    • Support GCM

And so far, that is functioning all correct.

Last week, I decided to add the plugin Google Site Kit to this website and the plugin shows a consent mode option as well. It recommends to enable it especially if you’re using Google Ads (which I am), so I want to know if enabling this consent mode it is going to create any conflict with whatever I have configured already through CookieYes. The question is:

    • In order to enable the consent mode in Google Site Kit do I have to change any other configurations that were previously made? and/or remove the code in the header.php?

    Thanks in advance!

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

    Hi @mouskeen

    Greetings from CookieYes!

Please don’t enable the consent mode in Google Site Kit while you have already set up the consent mode using our plugin.

Hi! Thanks for answering, would you mind elaborating a little bit more on your response? as for instance:

1- If I leave it the way it is, is this going to affect my ads in any way (since Google very specifically recommends to enable it)?

2- Out of curiosity, if I chose to enable the consent mode in the Site Kit instead, what steps should I follow on your plugin (removing code, disabling options, etc.) to not conflict with it?

    Thanks!

    Hi @mouskeen

If you’re currently using CookieYes to enable Google Consent Mode (GCM), your ads should function as expected, provided the setup is correctly configured. GCM ensures cookies are used appropriately for advertising and analytics based on user consent.

If you decide to manage GCM directly through Site Kit, here’s what you should do to avoid conflicts:

    1. Remove Custom GCM Code:
      • If you’ve added custom GCM code to the <head> of your website, ensure it is removed.
    2. Disable GCM in CookieYes:
      • Log in to the CookieYes web app, navigate to Advanced Settings > Google Consent Mode (GCM), and disable the “Support GCM” option.
    3. Activate the WP Consent API Plugin:
      • To ensure smooth consent management with Site Kit, activate the WP Consent API plugin.
