• Hi there,

Is it possible to hide a particular category parent page from the breadcrumb trail? I have a category named ‘brands’ with sub categories such as nike, adidas etc. The category archive page for ‘brands’ has no real use on the site and i would therefore like to remove it from the breadcrumb trail so that when users are on the homepage for example, and they click on one of the brand names in the sidebar, the breadcrumb for the ‘nike’ category page will show home > nike rather than home > brands >nike.

Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks,
    Patrick.

Why do you even have the brands category then? WordPress has custom taxonomies that you can use for hidden additional information, or even have a “brands” taxonomy where ‘nike’, ‘adidas’, ‘asics’, etc are different terms belonging to the brands taxonomy.

Thanks for the reply. My site has category pages for brand profiles eg nike, and category pages for product type eg golf clubs. When viewing the product type category archives, such as golf clubs, there is an option to filter results based on a taxonomy named ‘manufacturer’. Having no category pages for brands and just a taxonomy named brands would not allow me to do this. Sorry if this is a little complicated, i would show you the site but its not gone live just yet. I was just wondering if it is actually possible to hide a category page from the breadcrumb? Thanks.
