I am using TranslatePress to translate Greek to English.

The database trp tables are big related to the website size.

    wp_trp_dictionary_el_en_gb is 339 Mb
    wp_trp_original_strings1730281055 is 278 Mb

I don’t see any duplicated content but i have tried to optimize the database from the advanced tab but i get this error which is related to my webserver which i am not sure how to fix:
    “Gateway Timeout
The gateway did not receive a timely response from the upstream server or application.”

Eitherway what is more bizzare is the data that are inside these 2 database tables.
After some rows the data are like the ones show in the screenshot which might indicate some problem with the text encoding.
    https://prnt.sc/riFrHOG8dx4Y

And this continues for 1.544.388 rows.
    The collation is <dfn title=”Unicode (UCA 5.2.0), case-insensitive”>utf8mb4_unicode_520_ci</dfn>
    https://prnt.sc/LqpE2Milg73v

Please help me fix this problem.
If you know how to fix the first problem of the Gateway timeout please send me instructions of what could i change to my server configuration in order to let me do the optimization.
Second, help me fix the second ptoblem with the weird strings.

    Thank you

    Hi @jimon07,

    Let’s investigate what’s happening.

Please go to WordPress Dashboard > Plugins > Installed Plugins > and send a screenshot with everything you have installed related to TP.

Could you please let me know the exact steps you are taking when you receive the ‘Gateway Timeout’ error?

I have nothing installed related to TP except TranslatePress – Multilingual version 2.8.8.

The steps that i take and i receive the Gateway timeout are these:

First i pause cloudflare because of another gateway timeout that i get if i leave it enabled because cloudflare has a default 100s timeout.

After that i go to optimazation tab and i check “Remove duplicate rows for dictionary strings”
    i wait https://prnt.sc/tFewAQV5VQ1b
    until i get this https://prnt.sc/LgbpEctDrZI-
The time it runs before i get the error is about 90-100 seconds.
I am pretty sure it is a problem with my server setup but i dont know which parameter to change in order to strech this timout period temporeraly for the optimization to run. I have nginx as reverse proxy and apache with PHP-FPM

I think i fixed the Gateway timout error by changing the configuration of Apache.
I left the optimization running. The last part with the dots was running for 2 hours and after that i got this error message.
    https://prnt.sc/bR5aEGsjIji3

Also the trp_dictionary_el_en_gb table grew bigger as the optimization was running by a few rows and after it finished the rows remained.

Finally i was monitoring the MySQL Processes and every query that run from TP while the optimization was running was flagged as Slow querry. Some querries took more that 500s i don’t think that this is normal.

The website is running fine and i don’t have any other problem with any functionality or plugins and the only slow querries are from TP. In the first place i checked the database because i noted that translated pages took more time to load so that is what i am trying to fix.

    Thank you

    Hi @jimon07,

Could you please open a support ticket at this link and grant me admin access to your site? I need to check your database to understand what’s going on. Please mention this discussion on the ticket so that I can easily locate you in our system Please make sure to provide admin access on the TranslatePress site and not here on www.remarpro.com.
