• I recently ran CompressX on an image library containing approximately 7,500 images and noticed that 67,500 new post meta rows were created. I see that this meta keeps track of compression status etc. If this information was calculated on the fly instead of cached as part of the meta data it would eliminate the need for so many rows and would also mean that the images could be compressed elsewhere and copied in place/would be easy to transfer to another installation/not need to be kept in sync with the database. I believe this is how Converter for Media does it. I have not noticed any performance penalty in the media library when an image is shown with the stats calculated on the fly.

    Wondering what your thoughts are

    Hello @jamieburchell

    Thanks for your feedback.

The purpose of increasing the number of entries is to facilitate quick query and statistics calculation, and save database resources.

However, if these entries affect the efficiency of website access, we are going to consider compressing the data and merging multiple data into one, which will reduce the number of entries, but will increase the query cost, so we will need to discuss it.

    All the best,
