• I’m using TranslatePress (free edition) to translate my website.
I also use the Smash Balloon plugin to display the Instagram feed in the footer.

The Instagram feed works fine when switched to the original language but the translated page displays only image placeholders. The URLs and multiple image markers are fine.
I tried to disable translation of sba specific selectors in various ways but it doesn’t work (expected, since these are images, not text).

When I deactivate the TranslatePress plugin, the Instagram feed works fine in any language. I suspect that there is a setting conflict in the two plugins.

    Thank you for checking!

    Hello there,

    Thank you for reaching us!

What you can try is to exclude the whole plugin from being translated using the “Exclude Gettext Strings” from Settings->TranslatePress->Advanced tab->Exclude functions.

There you will need to fill the “Domain” field with the domain name of the plugin and this should be excluded.

    Let me know about this!

    Kind Regards,

    Hi Anghel,

    Thank you for the suggestion!
    I added smashballoon.com but it didn’t work.

The missing content is only images, nothing to translate. I think it has to do with a conflicting setting of the other plugin. If I deactivate the plugin, the Instagram feed works on both source and target pages.

    Thank you,
    Levente

    Dear Support,

It looks like the <img> dvi is missing from the href link <a class “sbi_photo”>, causing the issue.
This exists in the source page.

Please inspect both page versions (see bottom of the page “My Latest Posts on Instagram”:
    https://ambromeda.com/en/about/ (source, working)
    https://ambromeda.com/hu/about/ (translation, not working)

    Thank you,
    Levente

    Dear Support,

Did you manage to look into this issue?
Please note that I created a separate page with only the Smash Balloon Instagram shortcode
and the Translate Press languagse switcher shortcode, without menu, header, footer or any other content, to easily repliacate the issue.
    The page is here: https://ambromeda.com/hu/test/

If you switch to English, images within the link divs display normally.
I can also replicate the issue by logging into my WordPress site and click Translate Page. Even if the page is English, as soon as the Translation Editor loads, images disappear.

I’d be very grateful if you investigated the case, supporting the plugin reliability.

    Thank you,
    Levente
