Firefox console reports Uncaught SyntaxError

Hi Folks,

New installation of 6.6.2. The “website” seems to work, but there’s not much content, so I can’t say for sure, but the administrative pages do not work. They display with no css. The FireFox developer’s console reports:

Uncaught SyntaxError: expected expression, got '<' load-scripts.php:1:1

This exception notification comes with two links, one of which takes me to an undecipherable html page, mostly populated with javascript. There are many more exceptions reported. I suspect configuration, since this is known working code.

How can I diagnose this? I would start with logs, if I knew where they were…
