Extortion

  • Free for over 10 years and now stats are paid and you can’t export your data. This is pure extortion. My site is non-commercial, a small donation button that rarely gets me income doesn’t count as “commercial”. Downloading historic data is not possible, I even asked via mail and got denied. Very angry at Automattic for extorting MY 12 year old data. I will never ever use any commercial Automattic product again.

    We respect your bold and honest opinion on the new Stats plan. For the system and the way it detects commercial sites, it doesn’t matter how much money you get from the donation button: it can’t figure out the revenue volume but only the revenue source. Free stats plans are for truly personal sites only; asking commercial sites to pay is the only way to keep this feature available to people who run hobby blogs.?

    We’re sorry to hear, however, that you weren’t able to download any of your stats data before they went behind the paywall.

    Currently, there isn’t an option to download historic data, but we can try help you with that if you’re still keen on giving it a go.
