I’ve just installed wordpress 6.6.2 using the twenty twenty-four theme for a new site. I want posts to appear as the home page, but the Sample Page always appears. If I set the home page to be a different static page, then the other static page appears – it’s just that I can’t get the home page to be recent posts.

The settings I’ve used can be seen in this image: https://crowthornechess.org.uk/wp-content/uploads/2024/10/ReadingSettings.jpg

In another site, I used the same setting using the 2011 theme and it works fine but I’m not convinced it’s a theme problem so I’m posing the question here.

Otherwise the site is pretty much as it is immediately after install – I’ve disabled the one (I’m sure irrelevant) plugin I added with the same results.

Is there something I’ve forgotten to do?

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

  • Home page is set to latest posts but Sample Page appears

Nope, it’s not the “Sample Page”.

What you’re seeing on your homepage is the latest post or “Blog Home” template from the Twenty Twenty-Four theme. You can find the latest posts at the bottom of this pages as a simple list (under “Watch, Read, Listen”).

If you want to use this theme but prefer a traditional “Latesst Post” blog listing, either customize the default “Blog Home” template… or create a custom “Front Page” template. With a full-site editing theme like Twenty Twenty-Four, you can do either of these options easily in a few clicks without writing a single line of code.

    Good luck!

Thank you George, I had misunderstood what was going on. In my defence, that’s a lot of scrolling to get to the posts with the default template. As you guessed, I would prefer a impler listing so I’m now investigating the options.

Thanks again for pointing the way.
