Members (and indeed admins) can’t log in on certain browsers using the custom /login page. Symptoms are that the fields are just emptied and the user stays on the form page – in other words, it appears the page is refreshed without the form data being submitted.

This began to happen two to three weeks ago.

Which browsers? That’s the frustrating part; this is inconsistent. At the moment it seems to work on Firefox and Chrome for Windows, but not on their Android versions, or on any Mac browser. At other times however it has worked in Chrome but not Firefox on Windows, and Safari but not Chrome on Mac. This is making it hard to even guess what might be going on.

Symptoms persist even when all other plugins apart from PMPro are disabled, and when using a default theme. No caching plugin is in use and the host is not using Cloudflare or similar.

Reverting PMPro to earlier versions – as far back as 3.0 – appeared to fix the issue for short periods, but it kept returning.

It happens whether the login block or shortcode is used. Changing PHP version also had no effect (Currently 8.2).

Resetting the login page to “Use WordPress default” (once I finally found that setting!) appears at the moment to have fixed this issue, but it would be better to be able to give the site’s members the consistent interface they are used to.

It’s really puzzling! And I’m not finding anyone reporting exactly the same symptoms. I’d love to know what the cause was.

Hi there, thank you for reaching out to the Paid Memberships Pro team.

I’m afraid we haven’t had any reports of this issue from other users, and with it being so inconsistent it will be difficult to troubleshoot and narrow down the cause.

As you have already worked through the standard troubleshooting procedures and switched to the default theme as well, please consider reaching out to a developer for further assistance to try and replicate this. Alternatively, please post a project on https://jobs.wordpress.net for someone to troubleshoot this further on your website.

    Kind Regards,
    Jarryd
