canceled notifications of deleted comments

  • Hello, we have configured our wordpress site in order to moderate certain comments, these are directly put in the trash. But we still receive a notification informing us that a new comment to moderate is pending. How can you solve this problem?

    Can you tell me which BNFW notifications you’re using and how you’re automatically deleting comments?

    We use FAQ notifications – New comment awaiting moderation.
    To delete comments we use a native WordPress setting in the comments settings we can put a list of unauthorized comment keys.

    Thanks for clarifying – the comment notifications shouldn’t be sending if they’re immediately sent to the trash.

    Hello, thank you for your response. here is the list of unauthorized keys:
    example.com
    yahoo
    hotmail
    gmail
    test
    libero

    In our settings we have specified that to add a how the user must enter their email address. You can test with this configuration using for example a gmail address. The comment will be automatically placed in the trash.

    How are you adding comments to the site? Is it via the default WordPress comment form, a form provided by another plugin/theme, or something else?

    Can you test this with the default WordPress comment form on a post and a New Comment notification to see if it’s still an issue?
    I can’t seem to replicate it on my end.

    Our problem concerns the comments to moderate. I tested the notifications for a new comment on an article and a new comment to moderate, in both cases I received the notification, however the comment was put in the trash by the WordPress moderator

    Can you confirm if you tested this when the FAQ plugin was deactivated? I’m wondering whether it’s causing an issue when enabled which is overriding either WordPress default comment behaviour and/or BNFWs comment behvaiour.

    Hello, I tested by disabling the ultimate FAQ plugin it didn’t change anything, I still received a notification for a comment to moderate on a post, even though the comment was put in the trash

    Thanks for confirming.

    I’ve now been able to identify some odd behaviour around comment moderation in BNFW which I think is what’s causing the issue.
    I’ve logged a ticket internally to investigate this and will let you know how I get on in due course.
