WebP not working with wordpress

    Update:

    I tried images from this gallery, and it worked? files was recognized as images, and thumbnail regeneration worked fine:
    https://developers.google.com/speed/webp/gallery1

    So then the question is, why are my images uploaded not recognized as images, when these images from google gallery are?

    And how to fix this without an extra plugin? is it something with the hosted server? how can i fix this more permanently. so i dont need to convert everytime i upload.


    Maybe you could do a test, to see if you get the same error:

    Try this image:
    https://elmate.no/wp-content/uploads/2024/08/cup_v3_1200px.webp

    Then try an image from the link above from google.

    Curious to know how we bes can solve this.

    Both images work fine for me. My guess is that your hoster is missing an image library to edit webp images. Have a look under Tools > Site Health to see if there are any anomalies.
