I think the solution is this:

Search bar: when somebody uses the search bar, there needs to be “reset all” and “search term” buttons at the top people can click/close out. Clicking the “X” on the search term will bring them back to the main category page and hitting “reset all” will bring them back to the main category page. Problem solved!

Subcategory URL: Instead of removing all other categories, just have the subcategory they landed on checked so everything else remains visible. Also, include buttons at the top just like it does when people manually check a subcategory. That way there are 2 ways to continue navigating the shop.

    Hi?@scandidesignco

    1) Search issue. The search is not from the filter plugin, this is the third-party search plugin, which takes you to the search template this is not the same category page already. And it looks like the search plugin has it’s own not compatible algorithms with the filtering. You can use the search field from our plugin which can be turned on in the filter set settings. So it will search in the exact page without redirecting to the search page template.

    2) About categories and indexing. You have all those categories on your site, the page where you get taken is on the exact category page you created from the dashboard, it is not from filters. If you go to the categories you created and click on “view” it will open this category page, this is exactly what is indexed, not the filters. The fact that you displayed only a couple of category links on the page, doesn’t remove the rest and they can be accessed on your site.

    Best Regards – Victor
