Uninstalled. How to delete cron events

To remove the cron events?jetpack_clean_nonces?and?jetpack_v2_heartbeat?permanently, you’ll need to ensure that no traces of Jetpack remain on your site. Here are some steps you can follow:

1. Ensure that all Jetpack-related files have been removed from your site’s?wp-content/plugins?directory. Sometimes plugins can leave behind files even after being uninstalled.
2. Access your site’s database via phpMyAdmin or a similar tool and search for any?cron?related options in the?wp_options?table. Ensure to back up your database before making direct changes.
3. Look for any mu-plugins (must-use plugins) that might be related to Jetpack as they can schedule such events. These would be found in?wp-content/mu-plugins.
4. Check your theme’s?functions.php?file for any leftover Jetpack code that might be scheduling these events.
5. If you have access to WP-CLI, you can run?wp cron event list?to see a list of all cron events and?wp cron event delete eventname?to delete specific events.

Thank you for your responses. I truly do appreciate it. However, there’s no possibility, for the moment, to search through tables in phpMyAdmin. Experience tells me to avoid Jetpack products since they can’t be reliably uninstalled. I hope this helps others from making the same mistake.

Hello there – Please download this plugin, upload and activate it on WordPress. Once activated, it will remove any stale Jetpack data on the site and the plugin will uninstall automatically.

Then if you want, you can install the Advanced Database Cleaner plugin and then go to the “Cron jobs” section of the plugin and make sure to delete all left cron events related to Jetpack (along with the 2 you have mentioned above).

After these steps, they should not appear again.

Hi. I’ve downloaded and run the Jetpack uninstall plugin. It did in fact, uninstall itself, however, using WP Control to delete jetpack_clean_nonces and jetpack_v2_heartbeat instantly reappeared. I’ve installed Advanced Database Cleaner and this ultimately crashed our server upon activation. I sincerely hope that Advanced Database Cleaner can perform magic that WP Control could not, because this has been a waste of time.

Advanced Database Cleaner did not remove the jetpack files. They reappeared right after deleting. Solid!

Okay @bandreas3 – let me now discuss this with our team because if Jetpack is not installed the file should not appear automatically after removal. I will get back to you once we have some updates. Also thanks for trying via Advanced Database Cleaner.

Thanks again for confirming you’re using WooCommerce. Even though Jetpack is uninstalled, WooCommerce does use a few Jetpack packages, so you can expect to keep seeing the? jetpack_v2_heartbeat and jetpack_clean_nonces events. It’s expected for sites using WooCommerce.
